This year's grade 11 students are talented, motivated, and creative. The results of their formal subject/informal background assignment are as unique as each of the students themselves. Stay tuned for many more to be posted.

Grade 9-10 Sculpture
As you can see from the date of this post, May was a very busy month! However, I knew that you would want to see some of the grade 9 and 10 sculpture projects. The grade 9s created Alebrijes (Alay-bree-hays), a Mexican style of folk art. The grade 10s created their own gargoyles from clay, based on Medieval art history. All groups also created soap stone sculptures, but they took them home so quickly that I didn't get a chance to photograph them.

Grade 12 Portfolio Pieces
After completing an initial series of activities, our grade 12 students have been asked to design their own portfolio pieces with a focused theme. Brittany has chosen to look at the misery of celebrity culture. Angela is looking at identity and peer pressure. Mark is illustrating the lyrics of his favourite band. Jaclyn is taking her favourite children's tales and giving them a twist of dark humour. Finally, Holly (back to do a second grade 12 course!) is looking at counter culture.

Grade 10 High Contrast Paintings
These paintings definately impressed all of the parents who came to parent-teacher interviews last week. The students chose an image of their choice, manipulated it using photoshop, and painted their results on a large canvas. You make us all very proud! Miss G
P.S. I also caught the high contrast bug, and painted the yellow car in this set of pictures.
